Preparing your Quilts for Quilting
Here are Tips and Requirements in getting your quilt ready for quilting.
Please ensure that the backing and wadding are at least 4" bigger all around the quilt
If piecing the backing fabric, please note that backings can not be centred. If you have sewn a piece of fabric onto the backing I presume that it is ok to be included in the quilt.
If you have full borders or blocks expect puckers. Excess fabric has to go somewhere, this is the main cause of distorted Blocks.
Cut loose threads off the top of the quilt. These little fellows love getting caught in the foot of the machine and if caught will tear your quilt..
When picking Waddings remember
- Poly is light weight
- Wool is for Warmth
- Cotton means flat and shrinks
Not sure about the type of quilting... don't worry, you can always leave it up to me, just ask I have done Lots !!
